All about my Boat Shed

I knew pretty early on that I wanted my boat shed to incorporate lights of some kind, I wanted shadows to play an important part in the overall design of my room. This got me thinking about ways I could use shadows to introduce my Mihimihi to people and I came up with the idea of using a cave painting and the viewers projected shadow onto the painting. This lets them become apart of my Mihimihi they are not just ideal viewers but active participants, just being in the room allows them to shape the way the whole environment looks and feels. There is a fire pit in the centre of my boat shed that creates the light needed for the shadows of the participants to be projected onto the walls, I felt the fire fit really well with the whole idea of a cave. for the painting itself I tried to make it look like graffiti or street art, I feel graffiti is just modern day cave painting and so it just felt right to do it in that style. most of the imagery is either of my art or a place I have at one point or another called home. I felt like keeping the imagery broad allows for a lot more interpretation on the meaning or purpose of the images, making the whole experiences a more engaging one for the participant.
